Money Will Go Toward Building EV Charging Stations at Publicly Accessible Parking Lots

On May 16, 2022, HiON’s Build division was awarded $1,191,360 for the construction of twenty-two publicly accessible EV charging stations in the state of Massachusetts. The funds are from the MassEVIP Public Access Charging rolling grant program operated by the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection (MassDEP). To be eligible for the funds, the charging station location must be non-residential with public access. The grant pays for up to 80% of hardware and installation costs for a maximum of $50,000 per street address, with funds available on a first-come, first-served basis until exhaustion.

As installation experts, HiON works with local businesses, communities and government entities to install HiON EV ChargePorts to meet the charging public where they live, work and play.  ChargePort EV fast charging stations require significant and dedicated utility electrical services, and designing a reliable, situationally appropriate station requires proficiency in start- to-finish project implementation and a dedication to identifying and meeting the needs of all stakeholders.

“The evolving EV landscape will create challenges and opportunities,” said HiON CEO Jim Frank. “HiON’s mission is to develop the crucial EV fast charging infrastructure that will deliver a repeatable, safe, and efficient experience for the charging public.”

As the US electric vehicle market is expected to register a compound annual growth rate of 25.4% through 2028, there will be enormous demand for public fast charging in the coming years. Part of the HiON Build mission is to help make the transition to EV as easy and seamless as possible for both drivers and public parking lot owners. By providing A-Z ChargePort implementation and maintenance services, HiON Build simplifies the entire process.

With HiON Build, the responsibility for the entire charging infrastructure is placed in the hands of experts with decades of industry experience and a multi-state network of HiON ChargePorts already in operation. Public lot owners can provide best-in-class DC fast charging without the headache and expense of making sure their charging stations are functional 24/7/365 and current with the latest software and hardware updates.
